Why lot information matters

Research compounds are produced in discrete lots. Lot information is what ties a specific vial to a specific production run, so a laboratory can record exactly which material was used in a given experiment and keep records reproducible over time.

What a Certificate of Analysis is used for

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is documentation supplied by the manufacturer describing analytical results for a lot — typically identity, reported purity and the quantity analyzed. It is a reference document for record-keeping and research context. It is not a medical document and does not describe any human or animal use.

Where a supplier has provided a COA, we publish it on the corresponding product page so it can be reviewed before ordering. Documentation shown on this site is supplier-provided.

Why documentation should match the product and lot

Documentation is only meaningful when the compound name, quantity and lot identifier on the paperwork match the material in hand. We encourage researchers to compare the published documentation against the vial label on receipt, and to contact us if anything does not line up.

Storage and handling basics in a research context

• Lyophilized material is generally stored cool, sealed and away from light.
• Keep vials in their original packaging until they are logged into your inventory.
• Record lot identifiers alongside experimental records.
• Follow your own laboratory's standard operating procedures for handling and disposal.
